      The moment we hear name of  the place Kharagpur, first and foremost thing that come in our mind is about IIT Kharagpur and railway station. It's quite obvious as  Kharagpur has been known as first Indian Institute of technology since May 1950. Also it has one of the largest railway workshops in India, and the third longest railway platform in the world (1072.5 m).             Derivation of the word lamahatta stands for lama+hatta where lama means "Buddhist monk" and Hatta for "hut"- which  stands for monk's hermitage.
   This place has got everything to attract people towards it. We can also quote it as "it's One of the most un-touched forest or place of earth."
         Inhabitants here are tribes like Sherpas, Yalmos, Tamangs, Bhutias and Dukpas.

The Roadside Garden is one of Lamahatta’s major attractions. sprawling manicured garden on the roadside with many flowering plantations, pathways, small roadside stalls and a gazebo for prayers or meditation.
    As per localiets wind passes through the colorful prayer flag which helps in purifying the surrounding of that place as well soul which makes people feels refreshed.

Takdah or Dara Dokan
Misty meandering roads, chirping of the birds, nature trails passing through dense forests, sound and sight of fountain streams coming down the slope of mountains with every few steps and turns you walk – this is what Takdah is.

Orchid Center at Takdah
    This place has got an orchid centre where a variety of rare Himalayan orchids are cultivated.one of most visited and loved place by tourists.

The lush tea garden landscapes surrounded by mountains and Teesta flowing far below makes for a stunning ambience.

Monastery
The market area leads to a steep stairway beyond which you might have to climb several flights of stairs to reach up to the Monastery.
